The Windows 11 operating system is being used on millions of computers and laptops around the world, but now it is undergoing a change that the users will not like at all. Microsoft has launched Windows 11 for all users. Ads are being added to the menu. It was tested in early April 2024, and now the change has been rolled out to all users.

In the statement issued by Microsoft in this regard, it was stated that some apps from the Microsoft Store will now be seen in the recommendation section of the start menu. According to the statement, these apps will be from specific developers, and the ads are aimed at helping Windows 11 users discover more apps. This change is surprising because it was rolled out to all users in the beta channel after just 2 weeks of testing.

The good thing is that you can disable these ads or recommendations. If your Windows 11 has recently been updated, turn off Show recommendations for tips by going to Personalization in Settings and then Start Options. According to the company, this update is optional for now but will be rolled out to all devices running the Windows 11 operating system in the coming weeks.

Prior to the addition of ads to Windows 11’s Start menu, Windows 10’s lock screen and Start menu also featured sports-related ads. Microsoft also started testing ads in File Explorer of Windows 11 in 2023, but then stopped working on it.
