IPL Drama: Virat Kohli Penalized for Umpire Dispute in 2024 Season

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Virat Kohli had to argue with the umpire. Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s star batsman Virat Kohli has been fined 50 percent of his match fee for violating the code of conduct after arguing with the umpire during the Sunday’s IPL matchup is against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

According to the match referee, Kohli was found guilty of a Level 1 violation under Article 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct. Kohli admitted his mistake and accepted the decision of the match referee.


What was the matter?

Actually, the controversy happened during the third over of Bangalore’s innings against the Kolkata Knight Riders when Kohli was caught out on a full toss by Harshit Rana. Kohli believed that the ball was a no ball as it was above his waist, so he reviewed for a no ball. Therefore, it cannot be declared nobal according to law.

Kohli was irked by the umpire’s decision, had an argument with the umpires on the ground, and then returned to the pavilion unhappy. It should be noted that the Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Royal Challengers by one run after a thrilling encounter.
