The university awarded an honorary doctorate to a cat in the US state of Vermont. The cat, named “Max,” has taken up residence near the entrance to the Vermont State University Castleton campus and attends the university daily.

Because the cat lives mostly in the university, it is familiar with the students and teachers, so it does not harm the university. In recognition of Billy’s love for students and faculty, university officials awarded him an honorary doctorate and the title of Doctor of Literature.
